Dr. Samuel Dawa is an Associate Professor at Makerere University Business School. He holds a PhD from the University of Pretoria’s, Gordon Institute of Business Science. He is also a holder of a Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Food Science & Technology (honors) from Makerere University.
He currently chairs the YAKO Board Risk Committee and is also a member of the YAKO Board Compensation Committee. Previously, he was the Head of the Legal Informatics Center at Makerere University’s, Faculty of Law between 2000- 2010. He has also held lectureship positions in the Uganda Christian University and Uganda Pentecostal University.
He teaches classes on entrepreneurship, business ethics and business computing. His current research interest is in entrepreneurship where he has published in leading academic journals. His articles have touched on subjects such as access to finance, youth employment, women entrepreneurship, sustainability and the informal economy.
He has engaged in policy relevant research on frugal innovation, business start-up and growth. He has been a member of the prestigious Academy of Management since 2011 and a member of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor since 2007.
